Road Sign 101: One-Way Sign

Road signs and their meanings are part of CDL tests, so recognizing road signs grants you a great chance to achieve the success of your driving license. One of the typical road signs examined is the One-Way sign.

What is the Meaning of “One-Way Signs”?

One-Way signs show that drivers can only travel in one direction. Facing traffic in the wrong way may lead to a head-on collision accident. 

Type, Colors, and Shape 

This is a regulatory sign, which gives commands, sets limit, or control traffic. The sign is rectangle-shaped, showing black background with a white horizontal arrow and black writing “ONE WAY” inside.

Where is the “One-Way Sign” Commonly Placed?

This sign is usually posted at intersections and T-intersections where two roads meet. 

What To Do When You See A “One-Way Sign”?

When you see a One-Way sign while driving, you should: 

• Aware that you can only turn in the direction of the arrow
• Travel only in the direction of the arrow.
