What is the Meaning of “Hill Sign”?

High Sign warns you about an impending hill or incoming downgrade. Slow down and be prepared to shift into a lower gear to control your speed and save your brakes. 

Type, Colors, and Shape 

Hill Sign is a warning sign which alerts drivers to pay attention to a particular driving condition. The signs are often in the shape of diamonds, with yellow background and black graphics representing a truck going downhill.

“Hill Sign” is often installed before the areas that have a steep downgrade or hill on the road. 

What To Do When You See A “Hill Sign”?

When you see a Hill Sign while driving, truck drivers should: 

• Be prepared for a steep hill or grade in front. 
• Slow down the truck.
• Shift to a lower gear to save brakes and control the speed.
• Do not pass over other vehicles or make U-turns.

•  Type: warning sign.
• Shape and colors: diamond-shaped, yellow, and black.
